What is it?
The EAC Youth Ambassadors Online Platform (EACYAOP) is a youth friendly, and youth managed online platform, hosted on the official EAC Facebook page.
What does it do?
It gives the youth of East Africa a voice.
Through youth targeted and youth managed discussions, it informs, engages and empowers young people by providing them with information on benefits of the EAC, especially the ultimate benefits of a politically federated East Africa. Additionally it also takes the youth’s concerns to the top executives and decision makers and has them respond to the EAC youth directly without any bureaucracies. Young people anywhere in EAC are able to ask direct questions even to the Secretary General, the Speaker of the EAC Parliament or even the Judge President of the EAC Court of Justice and be personally answered via video link or You Tube Videos:

Why an ONLINE Platform?
It is informed by the EAC Brand Survey carried out in July 2013 by the Secretariat with the support of GIZ. This survey was aimed at evaluating communication strategies used by the EAC in popularizing the integration agenda. The findings showed that all age groups use social media more or less equally, but the majority of users are students and the unemployed, especially for Facebook and Twitter.
Owing to this, the office of the Secretary General Political Federation in cooperation with the Communications Department and Directorate of Social Affairs spearheaded the formation of an Online Platform via the EAC Youth Ambassadors for ALL YOUNG people in the EAC region. The platform is aimed at extending reach, extending youth voices and generating networking among Youth communities to advocate for the EAC agenda.
