Navigating through the complexity of a Customs Union

In support of regional economic integration, GIZ hosted a dialogue event on Customs Unions negotiation and implementation in February 2015 in Nairobi, bringing together representatives of the East African Community (EAC), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Experts from the European Union (EU), the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) and an African expert with a background in the World Customs Union (WCO).

The event was initiated by the three regional GIZ programmes supporting the EAC, ECOWAS and SADC, coordinated through the working group on regional economic integration of the GIZ sector network NEDA and was implemented by the Leadership Development Unit of the Academy for International Cooperation (AIZ).
