The Regional Economic Communities SADC, ECOWAS and EAC met for the third time to exchange and learn from each other on monitoring & evaluation practices in regional integration. Hosted this year by the EAC in Arusha, the three RECs shared insights into integrated management systems, linking the functions of planning, monitoring, budgeting, procurement and resource mobilization in one computerized system.
Furthermore, involvement of stakeholders and best-practices in reporting on integration were openly discussed. The M&E experts appreciated the practical discussions and agreed to undertake a joint visit to the AU to learn more about the African Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Tool (AMERT).
The next peer-learning event will be hosted by SADC, in June 2015.
